Whenever my sister is in Malacca, I will tend to spend more. With the tendency to go around having more varieties of food than the regular chapfan, you know its bad for the wallet. But its okay. I like to eat anyway.

We were in town sampling some selection from Simply Fish in Melaka Raya. For starters, we ordered a creamy cheese New Zealand mussels. The appetizer comes with toast for us to dip the sauce with.

As usual, I must have a soup, so we ordered this onion soup. Not so good, though, can’t taste the onions.

Someone ordered this Firebites, a dish of spicy pan fried dory served with lettuce salad and chips. You can choose either rice or chips, actually.

My salmon and some butter sauce I think. Can’t quite recall. It was good though.

This greenish piece of fish is coated with pesto. Not exactly my cup of tea, but the taste is interesting.
There are still a plenty of stuffs in the menu, but the next time round I think I know what I should avoid ordering. In my opinion, the drinks selection was rather limited and on the pricey side, so I always stick to drinking ice water, the only drink that I can take.

All the Chinese New Year feast is kinda taxing. I am quite prone to having sore throat, so here I am eating herbal jelly. Just in case. Heh. This shop is along the main road of Melaka Raya. You won’t miss it with its blinking signboard, especially late at night.
I don’t think its a great idea to eat this often. But once a while is good enough for me. I usually order this:

Mint herbal jelly for RM5.00, straight from the refrigerator. The chilled mint herbal jelly is throat numbing cold, with the combination of the chill and the mint. See the thingy I am drizzling in it? Its honey. The whole thing tasted herbal-ish and bland without the honey.
Kids and those who are not so into herbal jelly eat this:

Longan herbal jelly. Its sweet enough without the honey though. The longan jelly is more on the crunchy side, like the kinda jelly you get by cooking those straw-like thingy jelly. Meanwhile, the rest of the herbal jellies are konyakku-ey.
Read up the goodness of each type of herbal jelly.

Instant cure for wanna sore wanna sore throat. At least for me.
It is said that regular consumption can alleviate bowel and pimple problems too. Let’s see, the pearl herbal jelly’s supposed to preserve youthfulness. Hmmm….Eating pearl powder….
Stools and marble table, nice place to chill out with a bowl of herbal jelly. I usually go at night because parking can be a bitch in the afternoon during peak hour. If herbal jelly is not your cup of tea, they do sell chrysanthemum tea with or without medicine powder and bird’s nest soup.

I’ve been itching to try out this place after passing by many a time while driving through Melaka Raya. If its not because of the pinkiness its nothing else.
In my opinion this place is very much a ladies’ place, to the extend of young nubile waiters in pink shirts and vanity mirrors all around the restaurant coupled with a lot of shocking pink furniture. I feel more comfortable getting vain here than eating, honestly.
Which explains why I flicked the menu for umpteenth time and still can’t decide until a pink shirt waiter offered to recommend. They served a variety of style of noodles. There were Vietnamese, Japanese, Hongkie, and others to choose from.
After much umm, ahh and errr, we ended up with this prawn and pork spring rolls as appetizer.

Hot and crispy spring rolls. Truly crispy and hot from the wok, with substantial filling.

This is the spicy udon. A recommended dish by the chef. I recommend that if you can’t stand the spiciness, give it a pass. I can’t finish it. Its just too spicy for me that it gives me sore throat the day after.

Crab omelette noodle ordered by my friend. Basically thin, wonton noodles served with thick sauce and topped with vegetable omelette and shredded crab sticks. Non spicy, a bit on the milder side.
The drinks in the menu are on the pricier side. I ordered some mandarin orange flavoured drink with sago and that set me back about RM6.00. Not exactly very impressive though.

According to the drink coaster, the restaurant is opened by a boutique two streets away, and you can get a discount from the boutique by dining here. No wonder. That explains all the girly deco and vanity fair.

You can’t have too much of good things, because if you do, they won’t be as good anymore.

As much as I like them, I usually can’t finish the whole slice by myself. The layers and the creaminess, while they are good, can only be consumed bit by bit.

Delicious mille crepes, by Amos Chong.

It was daddy’s birthday cake last year!
