Aunt Imm’s treat this time round, a meal of Peranakan dishes in a quaint restaurant inside Hotel Histana, next to Klang Hokkien Association. The owner of this Nyonya restaurant hails from Penang.

Assam prawns.

Thai style crispy tofu.

Sambal belacan kangkung.

Inchi kabin, Nyonya style fried chicken.
A nice, no frill dinner. I like the fried chicken!

My first Modesto’s experience, and they are good! It all started with me stopping in Klang before adjourning my journey back to Malacca, and Aunt Pat asked me to join her and her daughter in-law, Stephanie for lunch. They sort of like wanted to have pizza, so pizza it is then. We were in Centro and Modesto’s looks interesting, so we walked in. Being a restaurant who also serves liquor, not unlike a pub, we are not too sure with the food, so we all went for the easy combo meal, which comes with either easy pizza that comes in a slice, or easy pasta, with a soup and soft drinks, all for RM16.90++. Prior to serving the meals, they also serve us with some chips, which is very nice! No idea what it was though.

Their soup, omg, they spoil us with choices. Aunt Pat had this mushroom soup.

Steph had this French onion soup, and the onions are perfectly caramelized. Yummy!

My minestrone. Taste is good, although they could use more filling ingredients, such as beans. Not that I am complaining though.

I must have pasta, so I ordered their salmon cream spaghetti. You can choose your pasta between spaghetti, fetuccine and penne.

Another shot, because I like it so much.

Aunt’s pizza. Steph had pizza too, but I couldn’t manage to get a picture. Both gave positive feedback of their food, so I must return next time and bring my sis! She loves pizza.
Portion-wise, they are not too big, so big eaters might be disappointed.

Let’s take a break from the Chinese New Year fever post and let’s talk about some regular food instead.
The other day I was pestering dad to show me the way to the Jusco in Bukit Tinggi, the largest Jusco shopping outlet in Malaysia. Yeah, yeah I wanna go! But first, I have to know the way, right?
Being the good dad he is, he promised to fetch me there for dinner after work.

Milk tea for daddy!
There are just so many food outlets there, but knowing my dad, it he will choose a Hong Kong style restaurant. Not that I mind, I rike also!

I don’t like to watch Bosco Wong’s TVB drama, but he still have to be here to disturb my dinner.

This is dad’s fried pork cube nissin noodles. So soupy!
While I ordered this Japanese style unagi stone rice set, which comes with soup, and for another dollar I ordered this:

Coke lemon. Or lemon Coke. Whichever, lol!

Russian borsch!

Eating unagi is a big leap for me. You see, if you have ever, ever eaten sushi with me, chances are that, it is hard to shove an unagi sushi down my throat. But this time, its different. OMG UNAGI STONE RICE IS TEH GOOD! Minus the rice I mean. Darn, those hot stones overcooked my rice. Gah! So from now onwards, I proclaim that: “I SHALL EAT UNAGI WHEN IT IS WARM!!!” Cold unagi still sucks. I hate the fishy smell.
And, oh! I love Aeon Bukit Tinggi! Its in my must go list!

We arrived in Klang quite late last Friday, so we went so supper instead of dinner. Dad insisted that we must try out a curried vermicelli dish at place in Teluk Gong, but since it was quite late when we arrived, the shop was closed and so we settled down in Coconut Flower Garden instead.
This was my first time in Teluk Gong, and I must say that Coconut Flower Garden is very huge. There are just tables in every nook and corner, and some tables looks as if they could accommodate fifty plates of dishes, haha! Suaku me.

Since it was supper, we opted for some noodles instead of rice. For starters, we ordered a stirfried vermicelli with lala, or we say, beehoon lala.

Soft and springy, very flavourful. I like!

We also had ochien, which is basically oyster omelette. The omelette was fried with eggs and some starch. I still like this better than those mashed up ochiens.

This deep fried baby squid in batter is so crunchy, that it can pass as snacks instead of a dish. Chomp, chomp!
That’s supper for us. All the food arrived quite fast, and tasted good. I hope I could return for a proper seafood meal sometime. That will be another post!

Espresso to keep me awake throughout the journey.

Most of the time when I am driving to and from Malacca to my hometown, I will stop by Klang. On one of these end-of-holiday back to campus trip with JY, I was feeling peckish, so we stopped at Bee’s to grab a bite before continuing our journey. Bee’s is a bakery chain store which is very famous in Klang, and as the trend goes, bakery outlets nowadays also includes a cafe serving some beverages and an ala carte menu.

This is their Caesar salad.

The Hokkaido bun, which is not bad at all.

A tummy warming bowl of Hong Kong style porridge.

The spaghetti, which is very amateurish compared to the other food that we ordered.
All in all, the place was quite cozy and might be a good place for a quite drink, but food-wise, while it is not bad at all, do not expect too much or you will be disappointed.
