To tell the truth, when you chance upon some place new and dangerously empty, you will have mixed feelings about whether to eat there or not. That was what happened to me when I stopped at Pacific Batu Pahat for a quick bite before driving to ZenXin for the dragonfruit.

Surprisingly, my worries were actually unfounded, given that their Bangers ‘n’ Mash which consist of beef sausages, bacons and mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy is fork lickin’ good.

The menu is very promising. I am already eying the roasted chicken pasta and scampi ‘n’ chips sets. Sigh!!! I wished that I had walked in with an empty stomach. Some other time maybe.

Its clean and its tasty. I like! The only downside is that it is not a franchise, at least not yet, from the look of it.

A continuation of my ZenXin Organic Farm trip.
Ohya, dragon fruit is also known as pitaya fruit!
While we can’t find any dragon fruit for sale there, dragon fruit juice we found, and a mighty colourful juice, I would say!

Dragon fruit juice and dragon fruit juice with pineapple.

The fruit juice bar. Very busy place! Trust the entrepreneurs to come up with such a great idea for business, serving all-natural, feel good beverages and food right in the heart of an organic farm. Brilliant!

Another shot of those flamboyant juices with a price tag of RM4.50 each! I like (the colour)!

Okay, this is my drink. Organic papaya and milk. for RM4.50 per glass its not cheap, but the feel good factor is just darn satisfying!

Dragonfruit ice lolly. To tell the truth, despite the colour and the wholesome goodness, I still don’t like the dragonfruitty taste. (Yeah, I know, going all the way, but detesting it)

The rest of the menu. I wish I actually ate something there, but since I arrived there with a full stomach on a sweltering hot Sunday afternoon, the appetite is next to none. Some other time, I swear!
Do check out my previous dragonfruit post!

My first trip to Kluang, and it is actually to this place, OMG! I didn’t know that I am so into organic that I have to visit this ZenXin Organic Park after reading about the food and the steamboat from sloppy chic.

I supposed the trip does a lot of good after all, because, for one I get to explore a wee bit on Johor with a starting point in Muar, and the feel good aura from all the greenery is good for unwinding all the study stress (cheewah! like I study a lot, kihkihkihkih!)

Actually, I was so curious about the dragonfruit that I MUST go and take a look at it. Suaku me.

Ok, erm. I saw! This is the dragonfruit flower buds, which I was told that they only bloom at night.

When there’s flower, theres fruit! Saw the unripe, green dragon fruit?

Ripening dragonfruit (or dragon fruit?) is always wrapped to protect the fruit from insects and preys.

Peekaboo! Nice pink dragonfruit hidden behind plastic!
That’s all for now. Will blog about the rest later!

The Taiwanese are famous for their street snacks, but instead of flying all the way to Taiwan to enjoy this gastronomical affair along the foodie streets, right now I can try some of them at Shih Lin, a franchaise of Taiwan street snacks in Malaysia. Far from being found in the streets, Shih Lin Taiwan Street Snacks targets the upmarket shopping centres and hypermarts in Malaysia.
Fancy some Taiwan street snacks? Shih Lin offers XXL crispy chicken, handmade oyster mee sua, crispy floss egg crepe and seafood tempura. Eat as you walk! XXL crispy chicken is their bestseller.

You can read up their story on the walls of their bright red stalls.

This is the handmade oyster mee sua. My first impression of this mee sua is that, it actually taste a lot like shark fin, texture and tastewise. A few more spoonfuls and it will taste more like mee sua. Owing to the fact that it is actually made with oyster, I get quite “jelak” towards the end. Oh, on the first look there were no oysters, but they were actually buried deep down. Two of them oysters, haha!

The XXL crispy fried chicken.

Very crispy and flavourfully seasoned.

Better than Uncle Bob’s, I would say.

And soy bean milk to wash down everything. Nope, I can’t stomach the remaining two snacks in the menu already. Some other time perhaps?

This branch of Shih Lin is in Muar’s Giant. They are more coming soon to your nearest shopping centres!

Remember these old school bread? These white and fluffy bread used to be the only type of bread that I eat when I was younger. Back at where I come from, these bread were either sold plain or readily slathered with margarine and kaya.
They seem to be vanishing rapidly to make way for the commercialized, mass produced Gardenia, High 5 and the likes. Nowadays, these bread are more like novelty, and they cost a bomb as well.

I was driving along the streets in Muar when I saw this ahpek selling the bread. Made another turn and bought the bread along with a tub of kaya, which sets me back to almost RM5.00. Seeing that I am not local, they even give me a spoon! Hehe. How convenient. I could now satisfy my kaya cravings ever since I saw them on Greg and Nee’s!
The bread doesn’t really keep well as the harden the day after, so steaming or toasting them prior to consumption will be better. At least, that shows that they use lesser preservatives, no?
Next time round I must go back my hometown and get my fat arse to the old school bakery to buy meself another loaf!
