Last Labour Day weekend was spent back in hometown. Since mum had day off from work and there is nothing much to do anyway, off to Cameron Highland we went.
Our first stop, and the best stop of the whole one-day trip - Green View Garden.

Strawberry goodies - Cakes, strudels, puddings, salad and chocolates.

We had this strawberry cheesecake.

And strawberry strudel.
Fresh strawberry juice.

Chocolate fondue. Served with strawberries, chocolate love letters and marshmallows.

Yummy!
There were so many pit stop cum vegetables/flower/ fruit farm cum rest and relax cum dining cum shopping area scattered around Ringlets, Tanah Rata, Brinchang and in between but this place is by far the best. It was spacious and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The wide array of western food and desserts makes me want to return for more.
The rest of the trip though, was not as good. Remember the Watercress Valley that I USED TO give good reviews of? I retract back my statement. If you happen to pass by there, don’t stop. Move ahead to somewhere else. That place had turned into a money sucking, tourist conning place. I should seen the telltale sign by the brand new Mercedes Benz parked right in front of their place.
They charge for every single thing and the food was cutthroat expensive. They charge RM0.30 for toilets and RM1.00 just for looking at the watercress! I don’t see the reason to charge people for looking at the farm when it is free in other farms. There were nothing impressive anyway, unlike beautiful flowers or fruits. They even closed the dining section so that the view is not accessible unless you dine in.
As for dining in, well for a steamboat meal consist of a soup base, a small basket of vegetables, ten meatballs, three stuffed chillies, three stuffed bean curd skin, ten suikow, two balls of noodles and two glasses of drinks, we were charged a whooping RM72.00. Despite the price stated in the menu, they will over charge you, knowing fully well that once you left you can’t make any complaints anyway.
So, be careful.

Cashing out on the phenomenal success of donuts owing to the craze of the crowd with the dough with a hole in the middle, Honey donut was born (that’s what I thought, couldn’t be too far from it anyway)

Even trying to localize, they include chicken floss and some other weird local flavours.

Yes, they are colourful. Say, if I could say things like these for Big Apple Donuts, for something far, far worst I might as well be spewing profanities.
Aside from the blatant lie on their price list stating that they do sell glazzy donuts (wtf was that anyway) for a cheaper price and listing a selection for that so called glazzy donut, they were all priced the same. Don’t get me started with the heavy dough that taste sour.
No idea if they are still around Melaka. I am not getting any.
I will feed it to my Smarty if he is here. Duhh. Donuts.
P/s: Smarty is my pet dog.
P P/s: This is not a joke.

Nadeje’s mille crepe was dad favourite. Note the usage of “WAS”. We don’t dig them now, for obvious reasons such as substandard food and overpriced everything.

Be prepared to fork out for ambiance and comfy seats. The food are just not worth mentioning.

Final
fuckingly, a taste of Big Apple Donut! The amount of build up anticipation and sheer frustration of the long queue to savour the donuts of this chain donut establishment is finally paid off. And I’ve got the limited edition Chinese New Year donuts too!
Tadaa! Just kidding. There wasn’t any limited edition, its just the box.

How does it taste? Well, it seems like me and the donut doesn’t even click. Enough said.
While I have to tell you that I love the nice toppings, especially the almond coated one and the fact that they are freshly made donuts, I just don’t like the “mouth feel (口 感)” of donut itself. While it is soft and fluffy, it is, well, just soft and fluffy, without anything else. No springy texture. No bites. No substance.
All in all, it is something that you could go on eating and eating, because its light and airy and you just can’t get enough of it. Brilliant! That way, they could sell even more! Goddamn good marketing technique!

Okay, enough about donuts. There are other stuffs that are equally good as well, aside from the deep fried ring of dough. Take for instance, the cute stuff down here:

Dorayakis! They are just so cute! A rat and a rabbit, its like, me and sis! Dorayakis were from Lavender.

Remember the hamper? Here are some of the goodies contained in it.

About the one thing I like about Yong Sheng other than the tasty cookies, is their pretty packaging. They rawk!

The rolls come in individual packaging. Very convenient.
