Whenever I did grocery shopping in Tesco, I will definitely stop by and have some light food in Kluang Station. Kluang Station, like many other kopitiam outlets sprouting all over the country, serves snacks and food with the local flair, with the difference in prices. Then again, they did a good job getting the taste of food correct, not like some kopitiams that clearly cashes out on the trend but totally lacking in the food department.
Mummy says, lime juice is good for indigestion. Even when its not, lime juice is a good thirst quencher, especially when you are eating something hot and spicy.

Their beehoon Siam is good! Not too sour, not too spicy, with adequate egg toppings.
What is eating in kopitiam if you don’t order the kaya toast? It is a must have! Kluang Station made their own delicious kaya (coconut jam), and they are really worth a try! Absolutely perfect toast finished with a generous amount of kaya and a pat of butter. Don’t play play!

My salmon scramble breakfast set in Coffee Bean LCCT, scrambled eggs topped with salmon flakes.
Dear readers,
How was your Chinese New Year? For those of you who celebrates Chinese New Year, no matter where you hail from, a heartwarming Happy Chinese New Year and Gong Xi Fa Cai to you, and for those who don’t I urge that you immerse yourself in the mood of festivities and have fun! You should really sample all the foodstuffs during Chinese New Year that are normally not available during the non festive period.Amidst the festivities, juggling between work, busying myself in the kitchen and the slowness of dial up internet access, postings on this food blog of mine slowed down tremendously, but now that everything slowly returned to normal, I hope I could find time to update this blog regularly, as I really do have a lot of recipes worth keeping and trying for the next Chinese New Year.

As usual, I sent my sister to LCCT to board her plane to Kuching, and to beat the traffic, we started from home at an ungodly hour. A cuppa coffee is very welcoming when we reached LCCT, and breakfast was Godsend. Sis had her chicken chipotle sandwich in panini. Absolutely filling and yummy too!
Its a pity that I don’t have the time to check out the newly opened LCCT food court, since it was not noticeable to us until I left the place. Some other time maybe. At least there are more choices other than McDonald’s, Asian Kitchen and Coffee Bean for the ever growing crowd of travelers in LCCT.
Stay tuned for more foodie posts!

Sometimes, I just dislike opening a can of tuna because I can only eat that much and the rest must be kept in the fridge. After throwing away a few half cans of tuna, I was feeling guilty and the next time I had tuna leftovers, I am ready to turn them into edible snacks that I can nibble with.
I used these ingredients:
crusty bread (I used batons, or baguettes will be fine too) slice 3 cm thick
tuna flakes (whatever leftover tuna that you can’t finish) mixed with mayo and seasoned with salt and pepper
cheddar cheese (any other cheese would be great as well)
butter or vegetable spread (optional) to spread on the bread.
This is how I did it:
Butter up the sliced bread and spread tuna evenly on top of the bread. Arrange neatly on a baking pan. Repeat for all the slices of bread. Slap on the cheese and and put them to bake at say, 180 degree celcius, or until the bread is crunchy and the cheese melts.
Serve with chilli sauce or your favourite sauces.
Simple, eh?

Remember these old school bread? These white and fluffy bread used to be the only type of bread that I eat when I was younger. Back at where I come from, these bread were either sold plain or readily slathered with margarine and kaya.
They seem to be vanishing rapidly to make way for the commercialized, mass produced Gardenia, High 5 and the likes. Nowadays, these bread are more like novelty, and they cost a bomb as well.

I was driving along the streets in Muar when I saw this ahpek selling the bread. Made another turn and bought the bread along with a tub of kaya, which sets me back to almost RM5.00. Seeing that I am not local, they even give me a spoon! Hehe. How convenient. I could now satisfy my kaya cravings ever since I saw them on Greg and Nee’s!
The bread doesn’t really keep well as the harden the day after, so steaming or toasting them prior to consumption will be better. At least, that shows that they use lesser preservatives, no?
Next time round I must go back my hometown and get my fat arse to the old school bakery to buy meself another loaf!

My first gourmet sandwich! Can’t quite remember the name. I think its a grilled panini chicken chipotle or something like that. Had this in Coffee Bean LCCT while waiting for my sister to catch her flight. The sandwich was like, OMG tasty!
The chicken chipotle fillings were delicious, and I think the underside of the bread was buttered with pesto. The salad at the sides were mixed with dried cranberries and almond slices for the healthier, nutritional approach. Its kinda pricey though. Can’t afford to have them all the time but I still like it a lot!
