As much as I love pasta, having a good meal of pasta outside the kitchen will cost so much that I could very well make a few rounds of pastas at home. Therefore, when I am hardworking enough, I will whip up my own pasta. Its very satisfying.
Two weeks back I was craving for some good ol’ pasta so, I foraged the fridge for whatever I have and try to finish using my raw ingredients before they expire. (Well, yeah most of the time I am like that.
)
This is what I used:
spaghetti, cook al dente and drained
white button mushrooms (sliced)
green onions (chopped)
beef slices (seasoned with salt, pepper and some cooking wine)
asparagus
Method:
In a pot, boil water enough for cooking spaghetti. When the water is boiling, dump in the cleaned and trimmed asparagus into the water for a minute or so. Dish it up, leave it aside and put the spaghetti into the boiling water that you’ve cooked the asparagus in. Let the asparagus cool and dress it up with some olive oil or French salad dressing if you like. Alternatively, you could have them as it is.
In the meantime, heat two tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet. Quickly fry both sides of the beef slices. Do not overcook them. Dish and arrange on a platter. In the same skillet you fry the beef, add in the onion and saute until fragrant. Add in the sliced white button mushrooms and cook until soft. Remember to add salt, pepper, coking oil and some herbs to your liking.
Now that everything’s done, dish them all up and dig in while its hot. In front of the computer, like me.

If you are looking for something to eat in Melaka Raya, check out for this Restoran Sup Lembu Tangkak on the right side of the road. They are very famous for their beef soup noodle, and you can see a lot of newspaper features about them hanging in the walls of the restaurant.

I happened to be going pass Melaka Raya the other day, so I decided to stop and savour a bowl of hot and hearty beef noodle soup. This is how they serve the noodles - in mild herbal soup along with beef slices and tripe, garnished with chopped spring onions and a dash of fried onion oil.

Remember to eat with lotsa special chilli sauce, and a drop of white vinegar or two for the extra kick!

Thank God Its Friday! Better yet, it was a Saturday. Never visited this place before, so, to celebrate JY’s graduation, I actually stepped in and risked busting the wallet.
Never mind. Heh. The RM39.90 set, which includes appetizer, main course and dessert is reasonable enough.
One thing I hate about living in the urban area is the difficulty in finding a parking space, and coupled with a hungry stomach, one tend to overeat later.

First to arrive was this mac and cheese appetizer. It was like eating cheese itself - in blocks. I wolf them down almost immediately. Hungry.
See what I mean? By the second piece I was all too full. Tasty as it was, cheesielicious stuffs are not my piece of appetizer.

The main course, BBQ beef ribs. The meat is very tender and juicy. I like! Kinda wondering if it is appropriate to suck the bones, LOL!
The only gripe about the ribs would have to be the sauce. The menu said something about apple butter sauce, but since the excessive BBQ sauce overpowered everything, I can’t taste any apple butter.

Another main course, the Fisherman’s platter. Fish fillets, shrimps and calamari fried with batter. This is kinda like an impromptu order, because I saw the table next to us munching calamari rings, and I couldn’t resist. They came hot, crispy and fun to munch on, but I had problem finishing the chips.

Cookies ‘n cream! I would’ve chosen the mud pie, but they ran out of it, so I chose this instead. Nothing impressive, and I would say that the shortbread is too sweet.
That ends my TGI Friday’s experience. Not too bad, I’d say.
In case of

I almost always prefer oriental food that any other type of food, so western food is not something I always eat, and tasting western food certainly aren’t my forte. However, every now and then I do indulge in some, and in my humble opinion, Wok and Pan serves decent western meals along with oriental dishes.

Garlic bread, which is straight from the oven. Fresh, crunchy and very aromatic. I had the impression that this is a complementary appetizer, since I can’t see them in the receipt.

This medium rare beef medallion in red wine sauce is tender and juicy, although I would prefer not biting into too much dried herbs. Otherwise they are really good.

Italian style braised lamb shank. The texture of the meat was so tender that it almost gave a melt in the mouth feeling. The gravy was very flavourful too.
Overall the food was decent, and the best thing is that, there is no government tax and service charge. The place gets pretty crowded during dinnertime. As they serve both oriental cuisine and western food, tourists do flock to the place sometimes too. Oh, yeah, Wok and Pan is in Plaza Mahkota, Malacca.
