nice wall

Finding good dimsum in Malacca is a combination of luck and hit and miss for me. Most are so-so, some have nice porridge but sucky stirfried carrot cake, some are good but too cocky, and the list goes on and on.

As for De Ocean Dim Sum House, the place I discovered last, turned out to be the best among those I’ve eaten in Malacca.

teapot

A pot of my favourite King tea to start with, and to wash all the excess oil. This place still functions with the push cart system, which I find it rustic and charming. However, I was overwhelmed by the number of different cart pushers asking me if I want their stuffs all at once, and it was not comfortable.

pao

Charsiewpao, ok-ok.

bigpao

Big pao also ok-ok. Bear with me, I am not a pao person.

Steamed dim sums.

crabmai
chicken feet

Stewed chicken feet (above), Fried dim sums (below).

prawn fritters
fried thingy
cheecheongfun

HK style Chee cheong fun is not bad either.

lobak

Stirfried radish cake is not so good, sad to say.

porridge

Porridge. I like places that serves porridge because I like small bowls of porridge eaten with dim sums. Kinda warms the stomach, and makes me happy.

I am amazed at the extensiveness of the menu. Some places only serves half the variety they have here.

And some of the sweet stuffs:

fried banana

Fried banana and red bean paste wrap. This is nice.

eggtart

Flaky eggtarts. One of the better ones in Malacca, seriously. I seldom see people selling flaky egg tarts in Malacca. Mostly they sell those pastry egg tarts.

pudding

Soy pudding with longan.

I came here twice and ate all those stuffs in two sitting, which explains the quantity of food. The price is on the pricier side, since partly because it is attached to the hotel and air conditioned. But I like this place! Gives me good vibes, so I’ll go back there for dim sum if there is a chance.
