Grandpa’s Birthday Dinner

Date: 26 May 2007 Comments: 1

Ever since I could remember, there will always be a birthday dinner banquet for both my paternal grandparents’ birthday. This time round, it is my grandpa’s birthday, and since our regular restaurants are hosting wedding dinners, we went to a different restaurant instead. We ate at Chi Fo, a place very near my home.

birthday noodles

This is the must have birthday noodles, or sau mein. The long noodles symbolizes longevity. No matter which angle I take the pictures from, they still look flat.

kungpao fish slices

The kung pao fish slices, my dad’s favourite food. I must say that they get this dish right to our taste.

chilli squids

Kungpao squids. The squids are huge and juicy. I like!

curry prawn

The next dish is this creamy claypot curried prawns. The curry is very appetizing, and everyone wants a dollop of gravy to eat with rice.

fried bread

This fried bread is prepared for dipping in the curry, although I find that they taste good just as it is.

pig trotters

Braised pig trotters, my favourite dish. Notice the smoking hot dish? Since not everyone is a photo enthusiast, I have to snap as soon as possible, because the chopsticks armies are going to attack soon.

tofu

Claypot tofu. A bland dish to offset all the rich tasting dishes up there.

All in all, the dinner was quite satisfactory, and the price is reasonable too. Since we booked the table and ordered the dishes beforehand, everything arrive as soon as we settle down.
