Bakuteh

Bakuteh, directly translated to meat bone tea is a dish of pork cooked with herbs, and sometimes added with mushroom, beancurd skin (Cantonese: fuchuk, Hokkien: tau kee, tek khar kee) and beancurd puff (Cantonese: tau fu pok, Hokkien: tau pok). Originally eaten as a staple meal for the coolies in the Port Klang, this dish is now evolved into a must have delicacy in Klang.
The bakuteh is either served hot in a claypot or just in ordinary bowls, and bakuteh lovers swear that both serving methods are different in taste. Erm, I don’t know, but both are tasty, if you eat in Klang.
I blogged about dad came and visited me, and he tapau-ed (takeaway) bakuteh from Klang, along with the fried onion oil rice for me. It was a huge packet, and I ate it for two meals.
This is from the Teluk Pulai shop in Taman Rashna. Teluk Pulai is the name of the shop, although it is also the name of a place in Klang.
